Living on St. Croix: Island news and reviews

Hi, my name’s Michael and I’m a warmth-a-holic. I moved to St. Croix from St. Thomas almost five years ago and I don’t have any plans to leave. Born in California, I moved steadily North-Eastward, in my mis-guided youth, to increasingly colder climates. In 1996, a turn of events reversed my migration and I made it as far back as Utah. I kept thinking, if I could just find a place where its 80 degrees every day and 65 every night, I’d be home, and here I am! St. Croix doesn’t meet these criteria exactly, but close enough for me.

My wife Terry has been coming down here since the eighties. She bought a cute little house just before Hurricane Hugo blew it away, leaving a concrete slab and a toilet! That delayed the move, but she finally landed permanently in 1994. When we started seeing each other, she hadn’t left island in five years.

We love it here and there’s no place else we’d call home. Like anywhere, it has its ups and downs, but when you live in paradise, the downs are easy to overlook. We share our little piece of eden with 12 11 dogs, 7 …oops there goes another one… 4 or so cats, a lot of plants, and an island full of people we call family.

Suggestions for informative blogs are very welcome.
