Richard Detrich’s Boquete Panama Weblog
An ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America (a/k/a “Dutch Reformed”) Richard served as senior pastor in churches in Bronx, NY, Milwaukee, WI, Littleton, CO, and Thousand Oaks, CA. Later he served on the staff of a United Methodist Church in Westlake Village, CA.
For 15 years Richard owned and managed Just Cruising travel agencies in Westlake Village and Camarillo, California.
He has a Master of Divinity, Doctor of Philosophy, and at 55 went back for a MBA from Cal State Northridge. His newest book, Escape Now: Escape to Panama is available on line as an eBook. Other books include How To Recover From Grief (available from Amazon), Norman Vincent Peale: The Man & His Ministry, God Loves You and I Do Too! and Positive Living In Tough Times.
Richard loves to travel and is a destination lecturer or chaplain on cruise ships of Holland America and Celebrity Cruises. He enjoys gardening, except for pulling weeds, kayaking, beaching, and walking, or being walked by, a Rottweiler and two Dalmatians. and reading.
Richard says, “Since we were able to do it, it only made sense to ‘cash out’ of Ventura while the market was high and do what most people just dream of - retire early in Paradise! I continue to help others who are ready to get off the wheel in the hamster cage and escape to Paradise! Not a day in Boquete goes by that I’m not happy to be in Panama and my only wish is that we would have done this sooner!”
Richard & Nikki currently live in Valle Escondido and are building on their coffee farm in Palmira, above Boquete on the slopes of Volcan Baru.
I moved to Panama in April of 2003. This is the second time I have established a website for the purpose of recording my experiences while living as a pensionado/retiree in this beautiful country. My first experiences were in Boquete and I have since moved to the city of David in the province of Chiriqui.
Chiriquí Chatter is written in a journal format. It has items that I am interested in which include hobbies, items related to the Chiriquí Province, or maybe just something I want to comment on. This site is my personal website and has no financial ties or alignments with any business. It is free of advertisements and contains no links to sites that are profit motivated and intended to sell to prospects moving to Panama. If you find any link that has become a dead link, I would appreciate it if you would let me know and I will correct it.
Any businesses that I recommend are because I have used them and found them to be trustworthy and fair in their business practices. If my personal experience, with any business that I have written favorable articles about, changes then the new experience will be reflected.
As I said before, I put this site up for my pleasure and it enables me to keep my finger in a little technology as well as allowing me to record my experiences in Panama. However, I also hope that it will provide some value and possibly some enjoyment to others that are considering Panama as a retirement option. I am not a journalist or a writer, so if you find the style that of a country boy, then my roots have been revealed.
Living and working in the Republic of Panama.
Would love to live in jammy pants, but I can’t, so I don’t.

19 Years and Counting in Papua New Guinea
I am an anthropologist living in Papua New Guinea and running a small consulting company with former students (Papua New Guinean). We produce social impact statements and other ethnographic reports for development projects. This blog site is a way to lodge the many stories and memoir pieces I’ve written over the years, and to find an audience for them. I have kids and grandchildren here and experience all over the country in various capacities–from tourism to fieldwork and odd jobs, and I hope some of these experiences may be of interest to a wider audience than myself and the few friends and skeptical literary agents who have been privy to them so far.

Muna’s Blog: Random Thoughts About Paraguay
I’m Muna, I’m from Paraguay, now living in the United States.
I will start this blog about Paraguay because there is a lack of information about it…
One month or so ago, I was searching some info about Paraguay on google and I came up with 2 posts on trip advisor (people post there to get some info about the cities they want to travel to)…well, so I answered both posts, on the next day I got at least 5 emails from different people asking me different things about Paraguay.
I was very glad to know that there are people out there willing to get to know or visit Paraguay, so then back and forth with emails I got an email asking about my Paraguay photographs, since im an amateur photographer I love to register and document my trips, not just with beautiful touristic photos, but also with everyday scenes, people, streets, architecture, etc.
While wandering around Asuncion I thought about the idea of writing a blog about Paraguay, and it was the perfect time since i was there on vacation for 3 months i had enought time to notice unnoticeable things and to gather some interesting information about places and things to do, not to mention the great experiences i had every minute during this awesome trip.
So, now im here blogging about this largely unknown country called Paraguay.

Polandian: the people who know Poland.
Polandian is a collaborative blog written by a mixed bunch who live and work in Poland. We love Poland and only gripe and complain when absolutely necessary - or when we feel like a laugh.
Perhaps I could be described as an Englishman lost who has found himself in Poland - trying to be an Author but bad in languages and living in Poland just adds to the confusion. Apart from family, friends and cat, my hobbies are running, kayaking and the beauty of nature. I am also looking to learn from my wife and find the beauty in others; it’s too easy to spot the negative. Together we enjoy literature, writing, athletics and laughing as much as possible.
